Of mice and men

My fiance and I moved in August 2007 and mice moved in March 2008 after we had renewed the lease. We put down rat traps because the office was closed when we first noticed the rodents. When we contacted the office we were assured the problem would be taken care of immeditely. That's a joke. The exterminator came in and just moved around the traps that we had bought and put down some type of packs behind the fridge and in the cabinets. We still are having problems with mice. It's so bad I'm afraid to get on my knees to say my prayers at night. I will not go to the bathroom without putting on a light for fear of stepping on one of the little rodents. Our apartment is in the back by the canal and railroad tracks. We asked the apartment manager several times to move us if another apartment comes available not in the back we wanted to move. Well, July we recieved a call stating they had some available apartments for us to view. When we went into the office to view the apartments; we found they had 2 apartments for us to view that were even closer to the canal. They showed us 2 other apartments to view. We liked 1 of the apartments and told the girl in the office we wanted one of them. When my fiance called the next morning to speak to the manager, he was told that the apartment we wanted, they had rented it out.The people have been nice, but the lie through their teeth. The manager told my fianace that she was going to try and work something out and call hime back. We have not heard for her.Total disregard for tennents. We have a closet door in the 2nd bedroom that was just fixed a couple of months ago. We only rented this apartment because I had just taken a job in Baton Rouge and needed a place so I would not have to commute. I should have commuted from our home in New Orleans. The gates are always broken and which looks like someone ran into them with their car.Everything in here is very very old. The sink under the kitchen cabinet has been leaking and still sometimes leak. We have had numerous problems but the rodents we cannot live with. Please spare yourself some headaches and find an apartment elsewhere. The parking lot floods and there is not enough lighting so I will not go out alone after dark. This has been a nightmare and believe me I am wide awake.
