NOT a good deal at all

This place looks nice from the outside, and the office staff are great right up until you sign the lease. I've had two situations that took forever for them to remedy. The first was the neighbor upstairs who would lock her dog on the balcony outside for days while she'd go out of town. The dog barked all night and would relieve itself up there, which naturally would spill over to my balcony and the patio below. After several months of reports from various tenants, they finally told the dog owner she would have ot get rid of the dog. She instead just started locking it in the bathroom, where it would try and dig its way out, and of course bark all night. Six months later the situation finally was taken care of and the resident had to get rid of the dog.

The latest was that my A/C was broken three months ago (May). It wasn't badly broken; I would turn it on, it would cool the place off, then shut off and never come back on, so I'd have to manually turn it back on whenever it got too hot. So I reported the problem, maintenance came by, replaced the thermostat with a new one that didn't fit the wall, hid the whole in the wall with cardboard, and left. This didn't fix the problem, so I reported it again in June. They sent a different maintenence guy out who said he needed to "fill something up," which he did, but the problem still wasn't fixed. So three days ago I reported the problem again, and they sent someone out. While I was at work I got a call saying they'd worked on the unit all day, but that the condensor died out and I'd have no A/C for the night. They apologized and said someone would be there for 8:00 a.m. The next day, 11:00 a.m. rolls around and still nobody has showed up to fix it (it's about 100 degrees outside). I go to the office and ask what happened to the 8:00 repair time. The girl in the office gets REALLY defensive, and says "well, I don't know who would have told you 8:00, because we don't even show up until 8:30." I tell her that I've been reporting this thing as broken for 3 months, and it's only been getting worse, and I'm pretty upset that it's not fixed considering I pay them a small house note in rent every month, especially when they'd gone up about $100 in my rent after the hurricane, and I said I thought they owed me a break here. She started saying things like how she worked her fingers to the bone, and sometimes she had to go without A/C, essentially telling me to suck it up. I told her it's not that I can't tolerate the weather, it's that I'm paying a lot not to have to wait three months to get things fixed. In the end, the whole meeting was useless because they don't budge on anything. It now makes a lot of sense why the owner keeps a lawyer on the premises. The A/C unit was replaced, but it took all of that to get it done.

I definitely will be glad when my lease runs in December and I can move out of here. The size of apt. you get for the cost, not to mention the ridiculous treatment from the office staff, the shoddy maintenance, and all the usual apartment problems that every place have just aren't worth it.
