We are looking for nice, safe housing, and had decided to go with Cypress Pointe. A bit pricey at $845 a month, but it met all our other needs. We put down the $100 military deposit, and after four days, we had some suprise expenses and decided there was just no way to be able to do it. (My husband is in the military, and we are NOT rich!) I called to arrange a time to get our deposit back, and the lady in the office informed me that, no matter what the circumstances, if the apartment has been off the market for 3 days, you forfiet your deposit. No one told us about this ahead of time. It was not on the ONE sheet of paper we were handed to apply for the apartment. So, take my advice, and don't be rushed into putting a deposit down unless you can actually afford to give someone $100 if things happen beyond your control. And if you CAN afford to give money away like that, think of the kids at St. Jude's or something like that, if you have it to give away like that, there are far better places I can think of other than a company that would turn their backs on this country's military personnel. I just recently had the same problem, here is my story. I had secured an apartment coming available on 1/9/06 I put a $200 deposit down right in the middle of Christmas. Long story short... I had to delay my move, I was told that they would hold the deposit and apply it when I was ready.... I am ready and called today to see if any availabilities were coming, none were so I asked how long my deposit would be good for? I was told that Jennifer had made a mistake and I forfited the deposit because the 1st apartment was off the market more that 2 days. The NEED new management!!!!!!!!

It plainly states on the apartment application that you forfeit your security deposit if you cancel after three consecutive days from the initial tim that you put the deposit down.If you cancel within the three days you will get your money back.

Cancelling and 'putting on hold' are two differnet things...sounds like mangement needs to get their act together or face negative reports with BBB as well as other legal offices

Even if it does "plainly state" crap anywhere on that form, a little more intelligence should be used when applying it to situations...this comming from a military wife who COMPLETELY understands the whole not being rich thing. When is three days enough to do anything?
