I would like to express my disappointment with the people who wrote these negative remarks.
Let me start by asking you a question; do you have any idea what the city of Gretna experienced during Hurricane Katrina' Well if you think it was a minor rain storm, you are wrong! Katrina did unimaginable damage to the our city (as well as many others).
And as a result of a very destructive Hurricane Katrina, Carlyle Apartments (like ALL other apartments and most homes in our area) suffered extensively! Yes I realize our city looks wonderful now! And so does Carlyle Apartments!!! It has taken the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears of many people to bring our apartment complex back to it's original condition.
You would think that good people who are trying to rebuild their damaged, condemned and destroyed homes and lives would be appreciative of the fine job that the management team has done.
These people are dealing with many displaced and damaged people.
They are answering thousands of phone calls a week (hence the continuous busy signals when you try to call) and somehow still manage to move many people into repaired apartments on a constant basis.
All of this is done by a truly exceptional staff.
I am shocked that you would instead complain about leaking toilets, screen doors and swimming pools when you have a home to live in.
Be it a temporary or permanent situation you ought to be thankful, and not feel taken advantage of.
There were and still are many people, even now, who are living in their cars or just trying to make due at a friend or family's home.
You should understand that Carlyle has gone through a very dramatic year.
Maybe you should take some time and visit other complexes in the area.
You will see that little or no work has been done to date.
Yes, it will take time for it to be completely back to 100% but I believe that like me, you were informed that it was still under construction when you signed your lease and you were also taken into your apartment before the lease signing to do a ''walk through''.
You had the option to back out with no penalties and receive your full deposit in return if I am correct.
Look, the point is that no one is forcing you to stay.
There are MANY and I mean MANY others who would be gracious and grateful to have a home and as far as I can see, you are taking that option from them.
I have been a resident at Carlyle since 2001 and have since returned after the repairs were completed in my apartment.
I am nothing but grateful to the staff and management team for getting me back into my home so that I can try to get my life back to the way it was.
I suggest that you act the same.

Do not take the tradgey that we faced and us it as an excuse to why these apartments are in the condition they are in!!! You are right, they are people living in their cars, I was one, but I pay RENT!!! When you opened these apartments and we did walk thrus, we could not forsee the appliances shorting out, and all of the other dangers we have faced. And for you to say that we should take what we have and settle for that you are crazy! Yes, we signed a waiver for the work being done on the grounds, but the apartments were to be done. You need to pray to God to forgive you for suggesting that we should take what we are being given! That sounds just as ignorant as Barbara Bush's comments about the ------ being better off! YOU ARE RUDE! IF THEY WERE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO, WE WOULD HAVE GONE! BUT THE PURPOSE OF US PAYING RENT, IS TO HAVE A SAFE ROOF OVER OUR HEAD!

Yeah go ahead and use that black card again! It always seems to work right (FEMA, food stamps, and any other type of financial mooching or what you might call "aid" that you can get out of the government and taxpayers so that you don't have to work or take responsibility for your own lazy ---)? Tell you what, if you think that you are being discriminated against, move out of New Orleans, where you are the MAJORITY,and get back on a boat to Africa where you will feel more accepted. And what I meant was that the apartments WERE BEING REPAIRED AND TO BE PATIENT WHILE THEY WERE BEING COMPLETED. WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK AND READ IT!!!! AND I'M RUDE? What in the world do you call telling me that I need to pray to God for forgivness? The only thing I need to pray about is for him to forgive your ignorance and racist stupidity!

This is for Anonymous. How dare you!! With comments like that. You Are a True RACIST!!!! You have some nerve. You are really missing the big picture. I didn't loose much in Katrina, but my family did. They stayed in New Orleans, and lost everything execpt for their pride and their dignity. and you whoever you are, you have lost your mind. I am a proud hard working black woman and pay to live in carlyle. So because carlyle is getting my hard earned money every month, I expect that if something breaks in my apartment, someone should fix it, because I pay RENT. You are very RUDE, and you do need Prayer. If you read your comment, you are the one that sounds ignorant. I will pray for you

i think the orginal comment was posted by someone of that property's staff. Im tired of hearing that oh its been a long time since katrina...yea like 2 years ago!! stop using that excuse people pay good money to have a clean and decent apartment with working appliances and parking. LET ME SAY THIS TO ALL THE MANAGEMENT PROPERTIES STAFF: IF A RENTOR WANTED TO FIX OR REPLACE SOMETHING IN THEIR HOME THEY WOULD BE PAYING A HOUSE NOTE NOT RENT. I THINK ITS TIME FOR ALL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT TO STEP UP AND TRULY CARE ABOUT YOUR RESIDENTS. ITS THEIR MONEY THATS PAYING YOUR BILLS. IT TRULY ANGERS ME HOW SOME STAFF TREATS THEIR CLIENTS. IF THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE CONSTANT PHONE CALLS OR COMPLAINTS THEN YOUR IN THE WRONG BUSINESS AND NEED TO MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. no renter should have to "put up" with bad service/appliances.
