It was my first apartment, so when I lived there I wasn't too happy about the rent. I thought it was too high, but considering it's a four bedroom with two bathrooms, all utilities included, etc... The carpet was horrible, but that's okay because we just put a rug down and knew that if we spilled anything it wouldn't be noticed anyway.
The staff was really great. The only thing I disliked was that they could enter anytime while you were in class if the place needed to be sprayed or anything. I didn't lock my door because my three roommates were my best friends, but I had over 6,000$ in movies and equipment, so it made me a little nervous.
Our neighbors above us were horrible, and even though we told our RA on several occasions, I have a feeling she was friend of theirs because nothing ever changed. They would blast music and stomp around at 3 am even during finals week. They also dumped grease over their balcony which means the grease pretty much lands on our front door and in the garden next to our front door. It was usually hot as well, since it made the paint on our railing bubble. They also dumped their barbecue grill over, and only came down to pick up the metal grill and left the coals in our garden. I waited a few days, picked up the coal, put it into a plastic bag, and left it outside their door. They would also put towels on their railings and not pick them up if they fell, allowing them to become a moldy mess near our porch.
Other than that, it was really quite nice. Make sure you take careful note of any damages. I had a cracked door that I didn't know was cracked and slowly it got worse. I called maintenance and he was able to fix it, but if he hadn't, I would have had to pay for it.
Parking is the absolute worse. You can only park in the Oaks, which means you have to walk to campus. That also means you have to walk further than the freshman. Now they have the shuttle bus, so that's not so bad, but man it sucked when I lived there. Campus police also issued tickets in the first few days because I or a couple of my roommates could get a chance to get a parking decal. Who would park there that doesn't live there' It's the furthest parking lot from campus.
The grounds are well kept and maintenance is really cool. I never felt unsafe, and we did have a screen ripped off a window in the middle of the night(someone was probably drunk), and the officer that came was very polite and helpful.
Anyway, it's not that bad. Since the staff is students, they are a lot more willing to be on your side than regular apartment staff. I recommend it. Find three roommates you like, because it's not a big space. The bedrooms are nicely sized, but other than that and two bathrooms, you just have a living room that opens into the kitchen, so there isn't too much space to escape if you are pissed at a roommate. And put a TV in your room because you will want to get away.
That price is per person, by the way. You pay it upfront or in installments *costs more* but it equates to about 700 a month per person.
