I live in SunLake apartments.
At the moment of the application they ask you for one month payment for the first month it was $860.00, a pet fee for $1,500 for each pet that you have, $50.00 for the use of the swiming pool and $600 deposit in case of some damage for their property, those $600.00 of your deposit you are not goint to see them anymore, nobody here in SunLake apartments never get back those $600.00 even if everything is in perfect condition, the apartments have carpets and it doesnt matter if your carpet still good even for a little spot of dirt, even if you can cleaned they use that as an excuse just to keep your deposit, that's money that you are never going to see again. And the pet fee $1,500 is ridiculous. It had a gym before Katrina, they increase the prices of your rent almost every year and they never open that gym again, they are using it as a storage room. They give you a card to open the gates because they say that it is private but the gates are always open. I had a case that somebody follow me someday to my apartment with no problem, they don't have nobody at the gate looking for the security of the residents here. Here are a lots of people living for about 20 years here and they never upgrade their appartments because they have to replace the carpets and they don't want to do it because if they replace it, the carpets are going to be new and they are going to have to return the $600.00 to those people if they got to end the contract. But they upgrade the apartments that are empty so they can be atracted to the people. I recommend you to visit one of the persons that lives in here for 20 years after you make your decision. Another thing if you are in the first or second floor, you are going to hear anything from upstairs, I can barely sleep sometimes. The exterminating guys or womans never knock at your door, they open your door, it doesn't matter if somebody is there or not, or if somebody is naked, they are going to open your door anyway. I got lots of important personal things at my appartment and they can have access to anything if they open the door when nobody is here. My digital camera suddenly dissapear from my apartment like a miracle, never founded. Have no privacy. One friend of my had to change his lock of his appartment because that problem.

This rating is spot-on accurate. I was a resident at Sunlake from 1996 - 2000. It was a horrendous experience then, too. I have never known anyone to get their deposit back, except for one co-worker who successfully sued them for giving false information tre: his rental payment history when he applied for a mortgage to buy a house. Luckily, he had all his paperwork, which showed they were lying. In my case, I was harassed by the rental mgr. Julie Green, and physically threatened by one of hrr maintenance henchmen after complaing of extreme noise from the rental office below my apt. After I filed a police report, a notice of eviction was posted on my door the next day. Since that time, I have heard stories from former residents that make my horrendously emotional-scarring experience look tame in comparison... I urge everyone to stay as far away from this property and its parent company as possible!
