My daughter and I moved into Emberwood around May 08. I signed a year lease, but found out I was pregnant 3 months before my lease was up. I had to quit my job because of complications with the pregnancy and also found out i had cervical cancer. I'm a single mother and could not afford the 825 a month without employment and had to move in with family. I went into the front office to explain to them my situation and I would have to move out. I had already moved all my things out on the 27 or 28 and had the apt cleaned up. I gave them the keys and had to fill out a paper stating I was breaking the lease and why and it asked me what would be the last day i would be there and I wrote the 1st. And I even offered to pay that months rent even though I would not be there, but it wasnt good enough for them. Well, I get a paper in the mail stating that I was evicted and they went behind me and wrote a 3 in the front of the 1 so I now owe 1200.00 I wish I would have had a copy of that paper man!!!! So they sent it to a credit agency, and now they want to put a judgement against me for it''' I only get 360 month for child support, single mother of 2, with all these problems but still offer to pay 50 month, but they want it all....THANKS EMBERWOOD for messing my credit up after I have worked on this for soooo long. DONT MOVE THERE PEOPLE!!!!

Wow, I thought that I had problems with them in the past, but nothing even remotely close as to what you've experienced.
I wish you the best of luck with your situation.

Pretty much the exact thing happened to us. Only, we had just a month left on our lease, but simply could not afford the rent any longer. My wife was about to start a new job when she went into preterm labor. We lost the child, and the emotional and physical strain kept her from working for a few weeks. I explained to the front office what was going on, and that we could not pay the rent for the final month(We were already behind on rent, but I was able to pay it on the 12th. Also, we had been there for almost two years, and we were never late on rent.), the lady at the front office was very rude and said, well we're going to sue you then and ruin your credit if you don't pay up. Well, two days before Christmas, we received a bill for $2000.00. $825 for the final month, $300 we received for a refferal bonus, and $300 we received for resigning our lease that we had to pay back. Not to mention alledged carpet damage, which I looked over thoroughly before we moved. We had the carpets shampooed and cleaned but were still charged. Screw these people. Heartless and soul less.

I am living here now but about to move out. ----- of a wife wants a divorce (shes seeing another man) and wants to keep the apartment. I say she can have it, heartless and soulless indeed, they deserve each other! I am so glad I am getting out of the lease (and the marriage, new lease on life.. pun intended? LOL!) I say she gets to deal with them now. Yeah Emberwood is greedy also, if you are late on your rent (the 5th of every month is the deadline) you get charged a hundred bucks for a late fee (in addition to the rent you already owe..)!!!!!!!!!
