I lived at the Grove for 3 years, but only because I swore I wasn't going to move again until I could move into a house. I got in only a month before Katrina, so my rent was always reasonably lower than my post-Katrina neighbors. The apartment got a makeover and was pretty nice after they finished - cosmetically. There was always an issue with the dryer duct not venting properly - it took about 2 hours to dry a load of clothes. Since I've moved into my home, I know that it wasn't my dryer because it performs like new now. The duct at the apartment must have been filled with lint. The swimming pool is almost always disgusting - green water with scum floating on top. When they clean it they shock it with chlorine so bad that you can't swim in it. I've had a few issues with the neighbors' springing a leak somewhere, probably their washer, and flooding my apartment. Maintenance was fairly prompt and responded to most of my calls quickly, but the issues weren't always resolved to my satisfaction. My AC would never cool below 78 degrees in the summer during the day, even if it was set much lower. That issue was NEVER resolved. Don't rent until you fully test the AC and somehow the dryer exhaust duct. Parking is cramped, so expect some door dings and jerks that take up 2 spaces. And watch out for dog poop everywhere! I have 2 toddlers and would not allow them to play in the courtyard outside because everybody allowed their dogs to crap there and didn't bother to pick it up. DISGUSTING!!! Overall, it served my purposes. I probably would not rent there again. I would probably pay more for something newer. (But I own a home now so GOODBYE TO APARTMENT LIFE!!!!)
