I moved out of this complex during 2007. I had nothing but problems with them from the word go. I had moved into the apartment for several weeks when I got a nasty note on my door stating that I'd not paid my deposit when, in fact, I had. The level of incompetence in their office is so great that I had to contact and deal with their managment company in St. Louis, MO to resolve the issue. The company they use to handle electronic transactions (or did handle) made an error...NOT ME...yet Plantation didn't do anything to help me figure it out even though I showed them several bank records of paying the deposit in full. Furthermore, they don't offer any sort of electronic transactions anymore. I guess I should have come to expect this from such a low-level property.
I initially had a short-term lease. At the end of the lease I advised them that I wanted to extend the lease another 6 mos. The leasing "consultant" said, "Sure, I got it...." Apparently, she didn't need any paperwork, which should have been a red flag to me. Well, I got a nasty note on my door stating that I didn't pay all of my rent the next month because I had paid what I had been paying on a monthly basis. I went to the office to inquire. The woman put me on a more expensive month-to-month lease, which was not what I wanted. I made them resolve it.
The women in that office are hardly professional. They act as if you're a burden if you enter that office. They don't like you interrupting their smoke breaks. Apparently, they think their job is one long smoke break. They leave for lunch and never have anyone there during lunch hours as most properties do. I recall a time when they left a sign on the door at lunch stating their return would be at a certain hour. Well, they all showed up about 45 mins later. This was absolutely typical.
The property itself is not much in itself, but what can one really expect in Louisiana' They're not nice. Period.
STAY. AWAY.

Incidentally, not everyone in Louisiana is incompetent and the property here can be gorgeous, if maintained. You may want to think the last paragraph
