Accurate Description of What to Expect

What to expect:
- Your Rent may increase $40 when leases are due to renew.
- The Apartment is very old and the floors are very squeaky.
- The wiring is horrible.
- Mold may appear around light fixtures.
- Air filters are not always changed and the AC unit will freeze up frequently. Management will promise to attend to, but there will be no evidence that they even checked on it.
- Should anything break it will not be fixed or it will take a very long time to get fixed. Maintenance is unprofessional and will cause additional problems while "fixing" something. (Garbage disposal, dishwasher, faucets, etc.)
- You will hear noise (talking, babies crying, bass from TV s and music, arguing).
- You will not be notified when housekeeping/management/maintenance comes in. They will enter your apartment at any time, without your permission and will not leave any indication that they came. They have also been caught entering bedrooms without permission.
- You will have roaches, spiders, and silverfish. Pest control is not consistent.
- There is no security. Your car, if nice, will get various dings, scratches and may be broken in to. Nothing will happen if you report complaints. Also, you will live one block from the projects.

If you choose to move here:
- If you want the deposit returned, take pictures of everything before you move in. Stove, dishwasher, AC Unit, Bathroom, Floor Condition, Ceiling fans, window screens, etc. Also, do not be nice when critiquing the apartment. They do not care about you.
- If you have a complaint or something needing attention, turn in a written request and keep a copy with a signature that they have received it. Also, request a receipt to be provided to you for any work/inspection or reason that they enter your apartment.
- Keep proof that you paid the rent. Make them sign for it. Management is not always competent.
- Keep all lease agreements and documents. You need to know your rights if they default on the terms of agreement.

Pluses to renting:
- They pick up trash at the sidewalk, within hours. You will be fined if you put trash outside during non pick-up hours.
- Apartments are spacious and were well laid out when built 30 years ago.
- Central location is nice. You can reach any point within 10 to 15 minutes.

This is an accurate description of the Village Green Apartments provided by a anonymous lessee who was there for several years.
