i lived at the brittany/drexel house apartments for 6 months. i signed a 1 year lease and had to move, i couldn't stand this place. the walls are like paper. i lived next to a couple who fought and screamed constantly. it seemed as if they were rolling cement blocks down their stairs all the time. anywho, where is a list of downfalls.
1) no parking. literally, you get one spot. god forbid you have a guest.
2) the gate has no intercom, so if you lock yourself out, you better know a neighbor's number.
3) thin walls.
4) crappy neighborhood (middle of fat city, aka the poverty quarter)
5) tonti management owned (what a ------- ---- show this company is)
6) heard gunshots on a number of occasions.
that is just a few things, there are plenty more. here comes the good ----. i had to break my lease early which cost me $1224 (sad to say it was well worth it, and i would do it again. thats how bad this place is) on top of that i forfieted my security deposit of $550. included in that $1224 a so-called $110 "cleaning fee", and check this out, when i moved i didnt bother to pick up every bit of trash since i was under the impression that the "cleaning fee" took care of the cleaning. they had the audacity to send me a letter stating that i owe $90 because they had to clean a toilet and pick up some minor trash out back (not to mention when i moved in, my back yard was full of MD 2020 bottles from the damn mexican mafia who lives in the complex next door). i plan on writing them a letter expressing my feelings toward them.
but in all this, the manager Shelly was very nice. she was a pleasure to deal with most of the time. everyone above her at the corporate level must be crazy. if they think i will give them the time of day, let alone $90 bucks, they are severly mistaken.
do yourself a favor and find a nice cardboard box and park your ass in the french quarter instead of moving here.
thanks for listening.

This gentleman had very good things to say to our manager, Shelley, when he moved out. He told her he loved the apartment and should be back to rent again. He never mentioned in person any of the complaints he listed in his review.
He moved into the apartment by himself and was assigned a one-car parking spot. He is correct that parking is very limited in the area, which is why we make sure that the spaces are assigned to the tenants, and are not used by visitors or unauthorized occupants.
He then attempted to have someone move in with him. This was information he had withheld when he moved in about needing more parking spaces. He should not have been surprised that the apartment he rented was allotted only one parking space -- this was information he had before moving into the apartment.
He is correct that there is no intercom at the gate. It is a security measure that no one can enter the property without a key. This feature is considered an asset by most residents and is discussed during the application process, before the resident moves in.
The neighborhood is undergoing significant improvements. The Jefferson Parish Council is actively implementing plans to bring more and better businesses and residential properties to the area. It is attractive to renters because of its great location and is in the process of being upgraded.
