Townhouse 2-br is cheap and big, but ugly

These are reasonably affordable apartments. A 1200 square foot, 2-level townhome is only 650 per month; however, this place has its drawbacks.
The pool area is nothing to write home about, the laundry facility is gross. There ARE w/d hookups in the units, but the appliances are not provided in the units.
The kitchen cabinetry is old and ugly. The layout of the apartments is not that great either. They did redo the exterior of the buildings with new siding and shutters since I moved, but I don't know about the floor surfaces inside.
My apartment had cheap vinyl tile in the kitchen and hideous baby blue carpeting throughout. This was referred to as "fashion colors" by the managment.
Maintenance is terrible. I had a leak in my downstairs toilet, which was NEVER fixed. I had to turn the toilet off, ultimately.
Always a problem with residents leaving the coded "security" gate open. Lots of residents who look "questionable." Thin walls. I knew my next-door neighbor on the downstairs portion of my apartment WAY too intimately, as her bedroom wall corresponded with my living room wall.
Loud noise from the interstate, which is practically in your bedroom like it is with most apartments in Metairie. The neighborhood is nasty. Crime is a problem. There was a murder in the complex in 1999.
But... It's cheap. And big. Take your chances, but I think you can do better.
