I have lived at the Terraces at Metairie II for a little over a year and trust me the issues that other previous tenents have had are honestly true. Of course when you come view the apartment it is usually during the day and during the week so it appears to be so peaceful and well kept. The grounds are well kept now since they have hired a guy to tend to the pool daily, landscape, and grounds. He is great, a little quiet, but he is great. During the day the apartment is generally quiet but nights and weekends are horrible. I will be as detailed as possilbe.
Parking: You can generally find a spot although it is not well lit, there also seems to be debris or something at the back of the building as if there is some construction taking place. It has been there as long as I have lived here. If it rains really, really bad, bring your rainboots because the parking lot will be flooded. I'm not so sure if that is The Terraces problem or the city.
Noise: You will hear noise all the time especially if you live near the pool. Also the walls are thin in the apartment. I have heard neighbors fighting, yelling and even domestic violence. The Terraces will never do anything about this situation, EVER!
Grounds: The grounds are kept as neat as possilbe by the one guy that tends to it. I think he does the best that he can do.
Safety: There is not enough light in the hallways. Outdoor lighting is extermely poor at night. I have never had any issues, but I would like to feel better about the lighting. The lighting in the parking lot is hot that great either. This is alos a gated property but that means nothing once you live here. The door has been broken several times and just plain open.
Maintenance: Horrible! In my closet the wire hangings feel on the floor from the wall in the middle of the night and of course scared me. It took several days for repair, my sink in the bathroom and kitchen have never been fully repaired. The reason given to me from the maintenenance guy, it was installed poorly.
Staff: Often friendly to deal with. I actually enjoy Lacey and Laura, but they are not given the tools to operate a rental proprty to the best of their ability. I'm certain it's not there fault. I fault upper management who can give a rats ass about the property.
Construction: The construction of the newer units appear nice but are not nice long term. I'm certain the work was outsourced to someone who knew nothing about constuction. I think they got someone from TLC's Flip this house.
Overall this place ranks below average. If you are looking for nice apartments in Metairie, they are difficult to find and I hope that you do not settle for this property like I did. I actually enjoyed the amentities of the pool, and fitness center. But I do not enjoy the extra amentities of noise, rude people and like a nother tenet said lower income. I'm actually going to say that some are borderline ghetto that live in this property and ghetto appears in many forms!!!
