I guess it's unanimous - Turtle Creek is ... O.K

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I moved into Turtle Creek in 2008 and when I was visiting the property, it looked very clean, nice, and safe. There are some police that live in the area I asked them about the neighborhood they said it was cool, not much activity in the area. I also talked to one of the ladies I saw randomly outside, and she said it was a good place to live, but to just live in the front near the street and not in the back. So, I signed a lease for an apartment in the front.
The first 6 months were fine (except for the leaky water heater - they replaced it immediately, but when they did, they left stains on my carpet and spots on my walls), Susan in the office is great and was very helpful. I did notice when I moved in (on the 3rd floor) that the apartments are definitely cheaply done - I dont have a renovated apartment. So the kitchen and bathroom are completely 70's, when my AC unit turns on and others in the same building, my walls vibrate and doors that I had closed mysteriously open by themselves due to the vibrations. When I asked about it, they said it was because the AC units are on the roof, so anyone on the 3rd floor gets loud noises and vibrating walls. I've gotten used to it though. Anyway, in the last 6 months, I've definitely seen the quality of residents change from nice old ladies, to people who care nothing about the place they live. I come home to coca cola bottles in trees, McDonald's bags in the parking spaces etc. Like everyone else said, the security gates never work, and if they do, people put rocks in the doors so that people can get in without a key.
Lastly, the apartment has been doing maintenance on the buildings (painting, taring roof etc.) I guess to get suckers like me over the summer to think its a great place to live. As a resident, we get VERY little notice about the work, one morning i woke up at 6am to the sound of stomping on the roof and banging. They also spilled tar all down the side of the front of my door and all over my plant. I also think that the painters left a slice of pizza on my balcony.. I just found it today, the final straw in several just completely uncalled for things...
Overall, I think this is a good place to live if you are only staying for a year and need someplace cheap! By the end of your year, you'll be running for the hills ready to get out. Any longer than that, and you'll lose your mind.
Just my 2 cents.
