HORRIbLE!!!

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
I lived in the American Can Co apartments the year they first opened. The property is beautiful, and I fell in love with the building but don't let the beauty of the outside fool you because the inner workings were the worst I have ever experienced. First of all the leasing office told us that the walls were sound proof, the windows could open, and section 8 was for single mothers, the elderly, and handicapped. Which all three are lies. 2nd you can hear everything!!! The walls are paper thin. 3rd pigeons ---- all over one of our cars that we stored in the garage (like over 100 ---- droppings) when confronted management they wanted to know why we left our vehicle in the garage for such a long period of time (duh that is what a garage is for, to protect your vehicle!!!), the plumbing was either always stopped up or leaking in the kitchen, when it rained hard water would get into our apartment and once literally flooded, we had to move all of our furniture to the kitchen, a section 8 resident cursed my mom out for no reason in the lobby in front of so called security which did absolutely nothing and when we confronted management they said that they are not security they are "customer personnel" whatever some bull like that. Then my neighbor said my 3.5lb fully grown yorkie attacked him who is 6'0" or taller and then threatened to kill my dog. Which give me a break! Boyfriend ran after him and he called the cops and the cops sided with us. Neighbor complained, said he was in fear of his life and management evicted us. But we did explain the situation to management. They said we had no right letting our dog run loose and we told them that we opened our apartment door and she accidently ran out. WhatEVER! We did not pay rent until all of our issues were settled with the head manager of HRI. We held a manager and had all of our money but they refused to listen to anything we had to say because we really loved the building, our view, and our apartment but there were many issues that needed to be worked out. Then we got evicted. We spoke with other tenants also and they agreed that a lot of things needed to improve in the building. Management pointed the finger at us, I could not believe it!!! I have never been treated so unfairly in a building of so called luxury, ever. Expensive for New Orleans but cheap for a lot of other cities.
