The building has been remodeled in the last two years but the remodeling effort has simply covered up the problems with this property (leaking windows, windows that don't open, mold problem). This property does feature excellent floorplans and a view of either City Park or (on higher floors) the CBD. However, if you live on the front bright lights from the lower levels shining on the front of the building will disturb your sleep. There are numerous conveniences like a Grocery Store and Restaurant (owned by very nice people). HOWEVER ... the Manager, "Voncelle," is from the pit of hell. She's been known to burst out into a yelling spree in front of tenants, employees, etc...
If you're lucky enough to get one of the apartments with windows that don't leak and you don't have to deal with the Manager you'll probably have little problems at The Esplanade at City Park.
Don't let the fact that the Police Station is adjacent to the property fool you into believing it's safe. Someone was murdered in the parking lot last year.

I don't know if I would say Voncelle is from the pit of Hell, but she's definitely someone you'd rather not have to deal with. For some reason she seems intent on making residents' lives harder than they have to be. However the rest of the staff is friendly and helpful, and I diagree with the comment that the building is unsafe. It's true there was a murder last year, but it was not an anonymous assault. It was a murder/suicide involoving a resident's ex-boyfriend, and that kind of crime can happen in the best neighborhoods. I definitely feel safe living at the Esplanade. You can't beat the location, and the free parking is especially nice during JazzFest.

There is a false sense of security in the building. Cameras at every entrance and they don't even work. Look at the security desk, the only screen working is the small black and white tv that the guard brings in to watch. My guests have never been questioned as to where they were going when they enter the building. Random people wander the halls and neighborhood kids swim in the pool without invitation. Voncelle is a spawn of -----. I had to have the police force her to let me in to my apartment to get a police report for theft. Oh the theft! Everyone has keys to your apartment!

Hey anonymous some of the employees are great.Vonzel can be nice some times,and it's totally safe.As soon as they fix the pool house it will be great.

Well I think I know who this Vonzelle is and she's gone but along with her is gone Trynell who was everyone's favorite! I miss you sweetie! They've improved this place and kids don't come to the pool from the neighborhood, also you must sign in and all monitors do work. I love it here and feel safe. The only thing missing besides Trynell who knew EVERYONE'S name is Brenda, our friend in the deli. No one in the office wants to take the time to remember anyone's name because we're not important to them.
