I MOVED HERE IN JANUARY, 2008. MY CAR, MY BOYFRIEND'S SUV AND AT LEAST 12 OTHERS VEHICLES ON MY END OF THE COMPLEX (INCLUDING THAT OF MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR) FLOODED ON APRIL 26, 2008. I WAS SICK AND WAS IN BED ALL DAY AND NO ONE CAME TO WARN ABOUT THE RISING WATER (IN RESPONSE TO THE FLOODING, I WAS TOLD "MAINTENANCE WAS OFF THAT WEEKEND," BUT THEY HAVE PROPERTY MANAGERS WHO LIVE ON SITE 24/7 AND THEY NEVER CAME TO NOTIFY ANYONE-- ISN'T THAT A PROPERTY MANAGER'S JOB') I WAS STRANDED FOR TWO DAYS. I CAME HERE THREE TIMES PRIOR TO SIGNING THE LEASE AND THEY NEVER DISCLOSED POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING. MY CAR WAS PURCHASED IN NOV. 2007 AND MY IT WAS TOTALED BECAUSE THE WATER WAS OVER THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE PHOTOS. THE WATER GOT SO DEEP, IT WAS TO MY KNEES. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED A NEW CAR AND MY MONTHLY AUTO INSURANCE PREMIUM HAS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY (INCREASED MORE THAN 120 DOLLARS) AS A RESULT OF THE TOTAL LOSS OF MY CAR DUE TO THE APRIL 26TH FLOOD. THIS IS INCONSCIONABLE. ***MANAGEMENT WILL PUT SILLY NEWSLETTERS ON YOUR DOOR REGARDING POOL SAFETY, THEY'LL KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR FOR NOISE ISSUES, BUT IN MY THREE VISITS TO THE LEASING OFFICE PROIOR TO SIGNING THE LEASE, THEY NEVER MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT FLOODING. IN ADDITION AS A RESULT OF THE MOST RECENT FLOOD, THERE WAS ALSO PROPERTY DAMAGE IN SEVERAL FIRST FLOOR APARTMENTS. THESE APARTMENTS ARE NOW VACANT. THE FORMER TENANTS HAVE MOVED, BUT THE MANGEMENT HAS ALREADY REPLACED THE CARPETS AND WILL PRESENT IT AS IF NO INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED. ****PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...I URGE YOU NOT TO MOVE HERE. P.S. THE LAUNDRY FACILITY IS BEING "REMODELED." BEFORE THE IMPROMPTU REMODLING PROPJECT, HALF THE MACHINES WERE BROKEN AND THEY FLOOR WAS WET ALL THE TIME. SO, I NOW GO OFF SITE TO WASH BECAUSUE I NOW HAVE TO SHARE LAUNDRY FACILITIES WITH ALL 500 OTHER APARTMENTS IN THE COMPLEX IN AN UNDISCLOSED PART OF THE COMPLEX.

I lived at Forest Isle too and it has always flooded. I think they do have a responsiblity to let new tenants know, but I think they feel that's why you have insurance. They say It's not our fault, its an act of god, and poor drainage by the bankrupt city of New Orleans.
