The apartment was not ready to be moved into on our set move in day. Once moved in the carpet had to be replaced and we had to pay an "upgrade" fee which is $15/month inorder to get it replaced. When the carpet people came in to replace it they said that the padding had not been replaced since the late 80s.

Every water pipe was duct taped, lights that were out when we first moved in still have not been replaced, as well as a few other things on our move in checksheet, and it has been a few months now. Some of the walls still have primer on them even though we called in a work order for them to be touched up.

Parking of visitors has over taken resident parking causing them to park half a block from their building. This has been addressed to management and they indicated that there is nothing they can do about it because they do not want to inforce it because there is no assigned parking. Don't mind the decals they give you, it seems they are given solely for advertisement purposes.

The property agents come off as nice and act like this is an upscale apartment complex and the only thing upscale is the price of rent, which I feel we are not getting what we pay for. The manager is rude, she acts like she does not have time to listen or take action on issues within the complex. Sometimes when I have gone by the office I have watched her not answer the phone, so if you call and there is no answer it is probably because they are too lazy to answer the phone.

Maybe once apartments are not in such a great demand here they will work harder toward treating their residents with the respect they deserve. I would never set foot on a first lake property again once my lease is up. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This is my opinion only.

i have mold in my apartment and it is making me sick, i asked for a copy of the lease, and read it thoroughly, i noticed there is no termination section filled out, it merely states to contact the office, which i think has to be some ethical contractual issues. it allows the lessor to change the buyout and termination terms whenever they want, which is not what the lessee signed the contract knowing. i have complained about the leaky roof multiple times, the leak travels down the wall and over the air conditioner, im afraid to turn it on, all they do is paint over the wet spots. Im paying $862 for wet carpet, leaky roof, smelly air conditioner, mold spots, wheezing, headaches and dizziness. i dont know what to do. ive complained taken pictures, and missed work.

When i moved into my apt at hickory they hadnt cleaned it either there were termite carcasses all along the wall too. no new carpet, and i spoke to someone who used to do maintenance at the apts, he said they strip the carpet in the closet and in inconspicuous places, then super glue it to the spots on the carpet which allows them to keep your security deposit, but not have to replace the carpet! which is exactly what i noticed when i moved in!
