I have been living at the Oak Creek Apartments for about 4 1/2 months now. Being new to the New Orleans area, my colleagues at work and friends who had lived in New Orleans recommended that I live in River Ridge. They informed me that it was a safer part of town with convenient access to rest of the New Orleans area. From my stay so far, I agree that living in River Ridge was a good choice.

When I looked around for apartments in River Ridge area, I felt that Oak Creek Apartments offered very competitive rental pricing. Plus its location to the Earhart Expressway makes it so convenient to travel crosstown.

I see some reviews here which are pretty negative. However, as far as my stay in Oak Creek is concerned, I think its a pretty good place to stay.

The apartment I live in has been maintained very well.My particular apartment has vaulted ceilings which make it so much more spacious. I'm not sure why I have a fire place...but I guess it adds to the "Classy" look of my living room.

Once in a while I can't find parking in front of my particular apartment building, but there's always ample well lit parking in the vicinity if I drive a few feet further.

The apartment complex staff is fantastic. They are extremely polite, very friendly, and super efficient...especially the manager of this property... Cathy Authement. She makes it a point to follow-up with you regarding the work order and keeps you constantly updated on the status of repairs. On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being an extremely crappy staff and 10 being a fantastic staff) I'd give the apartment staff a 11.

Overall a very good place to live.

The point I tried to make about Oak Creek and all the "creek" complexes is that they are not worth the rent that is charged. This is the New Orleans market and, in spite of Katrina which caused rental rates to go up, the rents are still lower than nationwide rents. You can find a less expensive apartment with the same amenities. When I moved away in 2004 I moved to an apartment in Kenner that charged $200 less per month in rent but still had a full size washer and dryer. Now, 5 years later, I am still not paying what I was paying at Oak Creek 5 years ago although the difference now is less than $100 per month. I understand that a 1 bedroom at Oak Creek is now going for nearly $800 per month whereas I am still paying under $600 for a 1 bedroom that has more square footage as well as a washer & dryer. Yes, the exterior grounds of Oak Creek are nice but it's just not worth what they charge their tenants.
