Was nice during my time there, but prices have increased too much today.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
I was at the Aspen for a few years. There were some great reasons to live there at the time. I lived in an area that was removed from the main thoroughfare and generally quiet. I liked the layout and was impressed by the walk-in closets. The "park" across the street has a great walking path. Very close to restaurants, video stores, banks, and groceries on Mansfield.
On the other hand, the garbage disposal did not work well and the plumber could not fix it because the pipes were old and poorly designed and would need to be completely replaced - seemed like a cop-out to me). I felt that the pools were nice in 2006, but by the time I left in 2008 they had become very cheap about managing the pools, thus, the water quality was disgusting. I think that the change in mgmt (Alice, who was awesome, was promoted out of the Aspen) had a lot to do with it. The replacement mgr. started dragging the place down (plus she was just an unpleasant person). Repairs would get done competently, but only if you asked several times (the office had trouble with losing work orders on numerous occasions).
As is common in Shreveport, my car was broken into twice, but that is the cost of living in a crime-ridden city. You just come to accept it. Neighbors were generally friendly and I do not regret my time there.
