Living In HELL!

My roommate and I moved into Highland Court July of '05. We started in a 2 bed townhouse with matted, stained carpet, tile floors peeling up at all edges and corners, a broken towel rack that was never replaced. It took a week to get a flourescent light put in our kitchen, 3 months to get a toilet lid cover and closet door that was missing, and 2 days to fix a dishwasher full of water and grease drained from the garbage disposal because the pipes were backed up. They advertised move in specials when we decided to sign a lease and when we asked what the special was they said they didnt have one that month. To me they should only put the sign out on the month they actually have the special, that is assuming they even offer any specials. When we moved in we had to clean the place ourselves because the floors were filthy and there was hair on the walls in the bathroom from the previous tenant/tenants. We had the carpet shampooed which made a small difference which goes to show they never shampooed them to begin with. We complained about the nasty carpet and tile peeled up at the front door that you'd trip on coming in and never even got a response. There were chunks of carpet missing at the seams so I had to hammer down tacks to prevent my toddlers from stepping on carpet tacks, it didnt feel very good. They also claim to do everything with your electricity when you fill out a certain form and then you get a notice because your electric bill that has been going directly to their office is a month late because they never told you it was there, and they give you 1 day to pay it or they will charge you extra. We called so many times and never got an answer, left soooo many messages that were never returned, and even left copies of letters and never a single response. Since then I moved out and my roommate moved into the apt directly beneath our old one so now she has to live through stomping upstairs, loud music next door and when shes complains to the office, they ask her to talk to her neighbors herself, which obviously isn't her job but in this case she had and got no reaction so the office was her next resort and well....... We all know how that went.
Her AC has not been cooling as it should be, and let me remind you that it is freakin hot in LA during the summer. Her bill doubled due to the constant running of the unit to attempt to get it below 80, and they're 1st response was that they lost the work order, then the part was on backorder, this was 2 months ago and still no part. Yesterday the hot water quit working and 7 hours later, they finally decide to come and look at it. Yes it worked for about 9 hours, woohoo!!! So today we called again at about 8am, after no response as to whether someone would be coming considering it is Sat, we called once more and were told someone would be out at 11, at 11:15 they said oh he'll be there by noon. Again, no communication and no concern for their own tenants. We've had food ruined due to loss of electricity because of a short in the outside breaker that took 3 hours to look at.
If you look at the apartments on the outside you can see that they are in BAD need of remodeling and REPAIR.
They advertise the best apartments in town but someone needs to make sure they know its 2006, not 1986. I'm sure 20 years ago they were nice but not only are the apartments nasty and in serious need of a remodel, the management sucks in personality and concern for the people who pay very good money to live here. In my opinion this has been the worst apt. experience ever and I would strongly recommend to anyone NOT to live here!!!!

Garra, maybe you should move once your lease is up, I am sure they have a waiting list to get into your apartment. some people just can't be pleased.

can't be pleased?????? HELLO... I was nice to them... definately not high maintenace... But if I am paying good money... hard earned money, it is not too much to ask for for something to get fixed if it is messed up. Our air took a week to get fixed in sept.. I was 5 months pregnant.... AND MISERABLE. we had to go stay elsewhere and pay rent there becuase i kept passing out from overheating.... Crappy place to live

Highland Court, I am just a renter that believes that if something is broken or needs maintenance it should be fixed, that's why I pay rent. If it can't be fixed right away due to budget issues or whatever, at least tell me the truth and not tell me it is going to be fixed when it is not. How professional of you to personally attack me.

WOW!!! I lived there also, and like yourselves had a terrible experience!! Worst ever, the dog kennels are better at tending to the dogs and their needs than the staff at Highland Court to their tennants, who pay too much for such a trashy place. As for the comment "cant be pleased", read the comments here, not that many people are High Maintenance! DUH!!!! But the part I find funny on this particular post is that the user Highland Court(a staff member Im sure) knew who posted this by the problems stated. That to me says they know they didnt fix all these things to know who complained of all this. And you didnt see anything like well we did do this and didnt do that, so..... Guilty as charged it looks like!!! HA!!!
