Barrows Place Apartments

Great location, good management, awesome apartment From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 9/19/2002 Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002   A friend of mine told me about this site and I wanted to check it out. After reading the reviews, I was a little surprised. Sounds like they are from the same person. Barrows Place is made up of old buildings, which will naturally mean quirky problems here and there. My experience living here has been very good. I've never lost heat or hot water for a period of time long enough for me to feel the difference. The maintenance has been kept up and repairs are done in a timely fashion. The management is great - in fact, they held a meeting to address the recent break ins and told us what they were doing and what they'd found. They found doors jammed open with coins, residents who kept windows and doors unlocked, and even found people who would let others into the building without knowing who they were. They recently installed personal alarms in each and every apartment, at no additional cost to the residents. No, the rent did not go up...in fact this year, it wasn't raised at all. The rent is fair compared to what I've looked at in other properties. The trash gets overloaded when we, the residents decide to put furniture there, but otherwise it is picked up regularly and there is no trash on any other area on the property. They set up recycling right around the time I started living here too. And I have a dog...walk the dog in the pet walk areas, where baggies and trash cans are provided. That area is cleaned daily and there isn't any other area that is affected by pets that live here. The laundry on the property is so nice - they decorated it nicely and it has newer machines. And the property just looks nice. It's kept clean, the landscaping is great. The management office is generally helpful. They respond to phone calls and e-mails and get the work done. So again, I'm surprised that the other reviewer had such a negative experience. I guess you'll always have different points of view. My experience has been great. The only reason I will move is when I buy a home.
