Ugly, but accepts small dogs

I moved here because a housing situation fell through and I had 2 days to find a place and a small dog.
The Boulders seemed to be the only place around that allowed dogs and offered a month to month lease.
Finding a dog-friendly building with heat included around here is difficult.
The buildings themselves are fugly.
A friend says that they look like Darth Vader Helmets.
That said, the apartment is huge, but the walls are paper thin.
I can hear my neighbors' telephone ring and normal voice level conversations.
There is only one working laundry area for the entire complex, so often on-site laundry is hard.
There is a dishwasher which is nice, but aesthetically there are gems like drop ceilings, ugly scratchy popcorn carpeting, and cheap fixtures/cabinetry.
The office staff are very helpful and nice, the grounds maintained & lit.
I heard about break ins around the building, so do carry pepper spray just in case.
Its next to a really skanky section 8 development called Southpoint with no division in terms of property, so I always see these drugged out men walking around.
Also I have no cell phone service in my apartment.
Overall its very impersonal, but spacious and not a terrible price with the cost of heat.
The big plus is that dogs are allowed.
