No Sympathy from Landlords

I never got to actually live in Brandywine. However, I did put in an application and the $200 dollar application fee well before a Sept 1st proposed move in date, March 20th. My roommates and I were required, as all future residents are, to send in our first, last, and security checks. We sent in our money a week before it was due. I recieved a message a few days after the money was due saying that our money had not arrived and our apartment, which we were even assigned a number, had been given away. I could not believe this, a month before school, an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student with no place to live in a month. We quickly called the manager and he explained he hadn't sent the money. I told him we sent it and that there must have been some sort of problem with the mail. We offered to drive down that same afternoon and give him cash for the payments but no matter what we said he just shrugged us off. Because the post office was a few days late we lost our appartment, even with a $200 dollar deposit with No Sympathy from the Complex managers or even the company managers in Boston. Thanks Brandywine, for the huuge incoience.
Oh, and they got the checks dated and post marked for a week before the due date the day after our apartment was given away. Sounds fishy.
