If you are looking at Colonial or any Kamin's property, just put your head down and run away as quick as you can. They start out all nice until you sign the papers, then they own you and they know it. I lived in Colonial for one reason and one reason only. It was by far the cheapest apartments in town. It was ok for the first few weeks when we could leave the windows open, but once the weather got cold the place developed a strange smell that just wouldn't go away. The fire alarm at the top of the main entrance hallway started beeping sometime in October and it was still beeping when we moved out in May. We called on it several times but they always said it ok, so we gave up. Speaking of upstairs, the floors are extremely thin and you can hear everything that happens upstairs (for us it was the sorriety girl going moan moan squeak squeak). When we moved in there was an old Ford parked in the parking lot that had been there when we saw the apartment 2 months earlier and it had developed a bee hive. We called to have it taken care of, but then all the bees did was move to another dead car in the parking lot, the ones that didn't tried taking residence in our cars or would just fly around wondering where their hive went. If you have other options for places to live (and there are lots of them in Amherst) then take them and stay as far from Colonial and Kamin's properites as you can.
