For 1500 dollars a month, even in an expensive area, you might expect a quality living environment. You won't find it at Mill Valley. Our apartment hadn't been cleaned until almost 7 at night the day we moved in. When we were able to bring our things in from the lawn, we found that it really wasn't cleaned well at all. As others have mentioned, the speed bumps are ludicrous. I know that they exacerbated the wear and tear on my car's struts that I had replaced. The people in the office are truly incompetent in the worst way. They're only nice to you when things are going their way too. The laundry room is frequently locked when it should be open until 10 pm. The dryers suck. The plowing schedule was obviously written by a retard, because sane and logical people can't understand it. I never have any idea when they will actually plow. My roommate parked in a handicapped spot one night and got towed. But, wait a minute, there were two inches of snow and ice covering the spot and NO handicapped sign. Some of the other handicapped spots in the lots have an actual sign (which is required by law, the painted one on the asphalt IS NOT required). So there went over a hundred bucks for that. The basketball and tennis courts are rundown, as are the interior of the apartments themselves. Maintenance took 3 months to fix our issues from move-in day. On a brighter note, I think the 700 section has been cleaned up a lot. I've never seen drug dealers, or heard of any robberies etc. It's still section 8, but perhaps the quality of people has improved'' If I ever get robbed, I will take the owners to court so quickly they won't know what hit them. Of course, even if you're a legal gun owner in Amherst, the town by-laws don't allow you to have one to stop a robbery. The robbers can easily have one though. Do your research and find a better place to live. Don't move here.
