Good place to live, but could be very annoying

It is a nice place to live - ample parking space, small but well-maintained pool which is open for 3 months a year, small playground for kids, nice maintenance people. There is a management office on site, and you can talk to one if you want. But the problem is that the management people are too professional - they treat tenants as strangers. One usually gets discount for the first year, but the rent will be increased significantly from the second year and continue increasing in the following years. Whenever one moves in, the termination date is always in June. It is weird that the termination date is always on the last Sunday of June, which means you won't be able to stay for the whole last month even if you pay the full rent. In general, any service requests can be responded in 24 hours, but the maintenance could fail to show up until you request again and again. I had the experience of requesting 4 times within two weeks for the same problem. This was obviously screwed up by the associate manager. The wall and floor is thin, and you can hear everything happening next to your apartment. That means you will be in trouble if your neighbors tend to make noise or prefer walking fast. My upstairs neighbors worked out for 1 hour at 5:00 am everyday, and the floor creaked for 1 hour everyday which drove me crazy. The apartment claims a security staying around at night, and I do see one very often. Unfortunately, my car was hit by a drunken college dude at night, and the security did not show up at all despite that my car's alarm went off. Make sure you look at the apartment before you rent. I first rented a one-bed room without looking at. It turned out the room stank like full of dead fish. I had to move to another apartment after I came here.
