Three weeks after unpacking and moving into Brookide we received a certified letter stating they were selling the apartments off as condos and we were to move out within a year. We considered buying but these places were not built to be condos... they aren't even what they claim to be--"luxary" apartments, hah! First of all, our toilet in the master bathroom was broken for the first three months we lived here and they ignored our complaints every week until we threatened to with hold rent until they fixed it. The walls are thin-our entire bedroom shakes when our neighbor comes home, we can hear our neighbors when they have sex... etc. Not only do sounds transfer to apartments but so do smells-our upstairs neighbor smokes and if we don't keep our bathroom ventilation fans on then our place smells of stale nasty smoke, we also have the pleasure of smelling his meals (imagine rotten fish odors emanating thru your home). There is always problems having a hot shower no matter what time of the day you take one(everyone complains but they don't fix anything). Everything they put in is low quality, even the remodeled condos just have "contractors specials" in them. When it's cold the door buzzer just goes off until you beat the panel to death. Oh, and this summer our entire was mosquito infested-with no explanation or help from the management company. Also--a few notes to all the potential buyers or fools who already invested... When they were doing the construction we had two water leaks from the upstairs apt--literally water was seeping from our ceiling and we had puddles and I can only imagine the damage within (and owners are responsible for any damage done to another person's apt.). Plus, there is a big rumor that after they sell off all the condos they will convert them to "co-ops"... which means you won't gain equity in your crappy investment. The last rumor is that they are selling a portion of the condos to low-income people (the section 8 people who already live here) for a fraction of the market value.
The only highlight of living here is the Andover schools are unbelievable. But for the same price you could buy a small home in Andover. Do your research.
