Johnson?s Stonehenge Apts. in Winchester is a modern building very conveniently located downtown near stores and commuter rail. Although modern, the building was very badly constructed with obvious cost-cutting measures employed along the way. Examples of this include the very fancy double-paned windows and the heating and air conditioning system. The double-pane windows are badly mounted in the walls and within their own frames letting the wind whistle through the apartment in the winter. And although these apartments are advertised as having hot water heat "supplied" by the owner, the heating and cooling are really provided by noisy, unreliable, and very expensive to operate heat pumps in each unit (expensive on the tenant?s electric bill). Parking is mostly a free-for-all particularly for those people in the 1-bedroom units. Despite having an "assigned" parking space, other tenants in the building and people in the neighborhood are always eager to snag another space for themselves. Since there is no building super on-site, most of the building rules regarding quiet hours, pets, smoking, parking, etc. are open to very liberal interpretation by the residents, where the strongest and most threating bullys get their way most of the time. Complaints to the staff in the main office about rule violations or needed repairs are usually ignored. It often takes several calls and some yelling before you get some action.
