We rented at the Avondale and wish we hadn't. The apartment staff are nice but nice doesn't fix the multiple problems we encountered in the first MONTH of living there. The office staff is horrible at follow through (phone calls, complaints). The only thing you can count on them to do is brag up the place to get you in, then blow you off once you've joined "the community". You have to find a manager if you want something done. Who has time for that all the time' I wish I could upload photos of what my husband and I moved into. Maybe I can get them on facebook or something. Rotten and molded cabinetry to start. So molded that there was a 6 inch black hole right through the top of it. There was a missing fridge components, knats flying all over the kitchen, faulty door lock, a mysterious loud, screeching noise coming randomly from the ventilation system at random hours to name a few. Sure most of it got repaired and we got a reduction in our first months rent, but that was only the first 6 weeks. Plus the major repairs took a long time and stuff that was promised by a certain time got delayed without anyone bothering to inform us which posed an incovenience to our work schedules. The laundry facilities are sparse to put it nicely. And expensive. Especially since the washer and dryer have seen better days and it takes 2-3 load to dry towels or any heavy fabrics unless you want to only dry 3 towels per load. That'll cost you nearly $5 for what should be able to be done in 1 load. The terms of the lease are applied randomly. The lease says no open flames or propane grills. There's propane grills all over the place. I only mention this because my husband did the right thing and got rid of his tank. But, it pisses me off to see other tenants using theirs out in the open and the staff ignoring it. I thought fire codes were meant to be upheld. From the first day we had problems. They screwed up our arrival time by saying "we thought your were coming later today." Not true. No communication in that office. I called and verified when we'd be there just a few days before. When we finally got there with our uHaul after driving from NY, we were handed the most rediculous and deceptive lease agreement ever. We actually stopped signing it midway and asked for clarification of the very obscure wording regarding the terms. When the office staff could not answer basic lease questions, I have to say we should have run out of the door and never looked back. What kind of business can't explain the financial terms of their own contract' Instead she said," I don't know. Nobody ever asks about that. Most people don't read these things they just sign them." Isn't this illegal!!!!!!!! Well my husband and I ARE the kind of people that actually READ contracts. My god, I wish we weren't so desperate to move into an apartment. If we didn't need to start our jobs right away, I know we'd have never stayed. But like fools, we did. By the way, the office staff person never did get back to us after 3 calls complaining about the terms of the lease. We wanted a new lease and called repeatedly. Finally, I called the office and left a message for the manager. The staff person I spoke to said she forwarded the call to the manager. Days passed. I thought, "ok, now the manager is blowing us off." Come to find out, the manager never got the call because when we sat down to have a face to face (with our list of complaints), she was surprised and seemed completely out of the loop. We had been dealing with incompetence all week long and had we not insisted on speaking to a manager we'd have waited forever to get some answers. This kind of thing is routine. Never trust the office staff to get messages. Always do your own followup. They're useless. Whether its management, maintenance, whatever. Eventually, the manager admitted the apartment never got inspected after the last tenant. When we viewed it a month before our arrival, we were told it was going to be cleaned and inspected. Cleaned yes, but inspected HELL NO! It wasn't until we unloaded our truck and started getting set up that all of these things started becoming apparent. We couldn't afford to delay our move to a new area any further. We didn't know the area very well and didn't want to live out of the uHaul. A hotel was too expensive, but now I desperately wish we'd done anything but stay at the Avondale. I agree with the previous viewer about the cops making drive-thrus. In fact, there's a cop cruising the lot right now. We've seen a few "shady" folks around before. One even got arrested from our building. Some drunk I think. With only 6 weeks into our lease, we're stuck and trying to decide our next course of action. Don't be stupid. My husband and I are both intelligent professionals and you'd think we'd know better. Instead, we went the cheap and easy route in order to save money for a new house. It wasn't worth it. It looks decent on the outside, but it's not worth the hassle. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do agree with the reviewer above. There has been mold problems in many apartment units. Many apartment units have leaking problems from the AC from the above apartments.
There has been problems with the leak in my apartment. The maintenance had to tear up the wall but the wall has not been completely fixed for a few weeks. It takes so long to get things fixed. You have to make multiple phone calls to get the attention. Once they sent the maintenance, you have to wait weeks to get something done.
