If you like living in the artic....

If you are fortunate to live in the ground level (aka first floor) of any building...you're going to freeze in the winter (October - May). There is "radiant heat" in each apartment...which is a great concept EXCEPT that in the ground level apartments, the heat is in the ceiling. This would be a great time to buddy up w/ your above-stairs neighbors. Hopefully they will offer to pay your electricity bills since they're the only ones benefiting from your heat! The average monthly electric bill is $185 in the winter months! That's to heat the people above you. What is the maximum temperature in your apartment during this time''' You're lucky if you break 64 degrees!!! What's even worse, the windows don't fill the frames right. You'll have such bad drafts in the winter that snow actually comes through the windows! I've tried to have the maintenance staff replace the windows, but "they don't have the budget for brand new replacements." Of course, they just put in new sliding glass doors for all apartments in the 2nd & 3rd floors. TAKE MY WORD ON THIS: If you really have your heart set on living here...get a 2nd or 3rd floor apartment. You'll be miserable as I was.
