Worst place I have ever lived.

Wood's Edge Apartments is by far the worst placed I have ever lived. Here's just some of the reasons why you don't want to live there.

Noise: The ceilings are paper thin. It sounds like a heard of elephants whenever someone walks across the room. The former owners knew this and placed tenants appropriately. Families with children typically rented bottom floor units or lived in the same building with other families. This cut down on the noise, and there were few complaints. The new owners don't care about who lives in what apartment so they placed a loud family in the 3rd floor above me a year after I moved in. If these people were quiet between the hours of 10pm and 8am, then I would have gotten used to it, however these people scream, run, vacuum, move furniture, hang pictures, or play ball in the apartment anytime day or night. The noise in unbearable. It is very rare that I am able to sleep a whole night without being awakened by them. These people are so loud they can be heard outside in the parking lot, which is more than 50 yards away. After nearly a year or complaining with nothing being done, it was time to move out. I was willing to relocate to another apartment but instead of being fair about it, the manager lured me into thinking I could move into another unit for the same price but once I met with her, she pulled a bait and switch saying the only available apartments were $200 more a month for rent. This is how they treat good tenants.

Owners: There have been 3 owners of Wood's Edge in the last two years. Almost ' of the apartments here are vacant now, April 2004, despite the fact that most of the apartments have been recently renovated. The units are poorly constructed with cheap cabinets and thin flooring.

Trash: There is always trash left outside the dumpsters and strewn about the property- things like furniture, car batteries and even a propane tank. There has been a mattress sitting in the parking lot for the last two weeks. No one goes around and makes even the slightest attempt to pick the refuse up. My building stank like rotten garbage for a month because someone from upstairs dragged their leaky trash bags through the hallway and no one attempted to clean it up. I almost called the Board of Health because it was so bad. The office staffs walks or drives by the messes and just look the other way. Tenants also leave their unregistered vehicles on the property. That's a fine sight. Last summer, a dumpster was set on fire. Next time it might be the mattress, the abandoned car or the propane tank that's still there. This should not be happening at so-called 'luxury' apartments.

Hot Water: Every time there is a power failure, and it happens quite frequently in this part of Attleboro, the hot water goes out. We have to wait until someone from maintenance to comes to reset the water heater. This usually takes anywhere from at the minimum of an hour to half the day. I have lost count of the mornings not being able to take a shower before heading out to work.

Locks: The locks have been changed 3 times in the last year. People leave the doors propped open with sticks and rocks. I have come home at night and found the doors wide open. This makes me feel very safe.

Maintenance: It takes several phone calls and at least a week or more to get anything fixed. They do not have a maintenance person who lives on site and nothing is ever fixed right the first time. It took 3 weeks for them to come repair my dishwasher, which broke the day before Thanksgiving ' of all days. I took a time off from work and arranged to have then come fix it because I felt uncomfortable having a stranger in my apartment. The guy never showed up even though the office lied to me and said he was on his way. I had to take more time off from work to get it fixed. There were other repair problems too: 2 weeks to repair a leaky faucet, 3 weeks to replace a broken pipe that flooded the apartment downstairs twice before they could fix that right!

Other: Mice are living inside my livingroom wall. I can hear then scratching at night.

Snow removal: Poor at best. Parking areas and doorsteps are rarely salted.

Dogs: The new owners have decided to allow tenants to own dogs. I love dogs but not when they bark, run around unleashed or when their owners let them poop wherever and leave it on the walkways for everyone to step in.

For the price of rent at Wood's Edge, tenants deserve better. I could probably think of more reasons why you don't want to live there but you get the idea. In 13 more days, I will be moving out. Once I am settled, I will write a review on my new apartment.

Thanks for listening,
Mike S.
