You'd be crazy to move here...!!

1) The septic smell that is generated from all these apartments is just horrid..!! It will make you want to puke... You'll be unable to open your windows in the summer because it smells so bad and you'll be running the Central AC (and up the electric bill) just to make your place livable. However, the central only ends up blowing in the outside air and the smell. Management has tried to make extensive "repairs" the septic system this past summer of 2007 - however I see little or no improvement. So never mind the cost, imagine sitting down to have a family dinner and the smell of human feces is over powering your dinner.

2) Also the constant banging of apartment doors is nerve racking... I hear it as late as 2-3am and as early as 5-6am... All apartment doors are on 'self-closing' springs due to fire codes, therefore of you have an inconsiderate neighbor, they'll just let the door slam closed on its own and you'll find this is the case more often then not. Doesn't matter what floor you're on. You hear it above you, below you, beside you...

I found out by talking to the other residents that most if not all residents can't wait to move out. That in itself says something for this place.

3) This community is supposed to have a security gate to restrict access to non-residents. However, a large portion of the time the gate is broken (open) and when the gate does work non-residents just sit in the near-by parking lot waiting for a resident to open the gate and there-by 'riding your coat-tails in'.. Some security gate...

4) Also if you have an issue regarding a noisy neighbor, kids loitering in the parking lots, etc. you will have to contact the Bellingham PD to handle. Management doesn't seem to get involved in these matters which are another slap in the face when you're paying so much money.

5) If you rent a car port ($25 extra a month) you may have an issue with bird crap. Seems no matter where you park (assigned of course) you're going to have to deal with the birds making nests under the roofs and therefore crapping on your car constantly..! Management is 'working on the problem' however no time frame has been set for completion.

On the plus side - Management is very nice, they throw little parties now and then for the residents (Halloween, etc.), they allow dogs and all the residents are respectful with their dogs, the grounds are well maintained, the hallways are usually cleaned (vacuumed) daily, full access to gym 24/7, a pool (however it is shallow 4-5ft and small. expect to share it with a large crowd in the summer) and car ports for roughly $25 a month extra.

Again, these are a lot of issues for an apartment that costs as much as most mortgages. And to call it 'Luxury' apartments is a little bit of a stretch.
You could easily rent a small house for what they're charging (anywhere from $1100 for a 1 bed/bath to $1900 2 bed/2 bath)...

Hello. I am just about to move there and I am real hesistant after this review because I smelled sewage when I viewed the Apt on December 1. I am a single Mom with a 10 year old and I did not see any children in the complex. Please tell me more before I sign on the dotted line. Thank you

I've lived here for quite some time and I totally agree with the above assessment. I've called the board of health about the smell. I am wondering what you were told about the smell when you viewed the apartment. Yes, work has been done, the pipes are finally underground, but the smell persists. SICKENING!!! I can't wait to move out of here, though I do love the apartment itself.
