I couldn't believe the positive reviews about this place! Even though this is susidized housing, 30% of your gross income ends up being close to 50% of your take home. That doesn't leave much for other bills.(phone,car,TV are all considered luxuries)Way too many people here know how to 'work' they system. Hard working people get the shaft!
The managment is a nightmare. Rules are arbitrary. There are the choosen few tenents who are 'pets' and all the rest of us suffer their wrath. They are less than pleasent to deal with, on any level, for any reason.
Apple Village looks like a nice place on the surface, but... watch out for the mold, ants/bees/misquitos(nesting in the rotting siding and standing water), stray/wild cats(worms and stinking urine),leaky & drafty windows/doors, old fixtures & appliances, and a completely inept maintenance staff(they can 'fix' anything with caulk and a screw). There is assinged parking for some buildings and not for others. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the drug dealers and drunks.
There are a few good points... 1) Nice pool w/ summer program for kids. 2) The apartments are big(lots of room for the mold to grow). 3)Playgrounds behind each building (so long as the 'busy bodies' don't call the office or the police because the kids are playing too loud!). 4)If you MUST live in Beverly but can't afford the outragous rents, it is a good deal(the maximum rent is still cheaper than private complexes).
If you can avoid living here, DO. If not, suck up to the manager and make friends with the police.
I almost forgot. My child now has asthma and my husband and I both have allergies we never had before. A lot of other tenents have the same kind of health problems, beware!
PS. to the other review-ies complaining about the children...this is 'family' housing, so kids come with the territory.
