My apartment is spacious and nice, with new applicances and a nice kitchen. When I moved in a few months ago the leasing office was very nice and helpful. The only problem is I hate the walk from my car to my apartment. I would my apartment were in the median of 128 than on Folly Pond Road.
A ghetto is characterized not by the quality of the landscaping or the construction of the buildings. A ghetto is defined by the people who live in it. Folly hill apartments is an unmistakeabe ghetto. I think the office has made at least some effort to clean the place up, but the office could never keep up with the gross disrespect of the property and people who live here by some of these residents. I have seen one resident screaming profane vulgarities and racial slurs at another resident and screaming that they were going to kill them in the middle of the day on the sidewalk in front of small children. I'm not making this up - it gets worse. I have seen a woman empty her car's ashtray onto the parking lot. Residents on folly pond road routinely clean out their cars and leave the trash in the parking spot. Many times there are cars with flat tires that sit in the parking lot for months. I feel like there are more hot dog wrappers and coke bottles on Folly Pond Road than in Fenway after a game. Recently someone disposed of an exercise bike and some crutches in the parking lot. They've been there for over a week. I have seen a tenant pile trash on the top and trunk of his car (at least 6 big bags) and drive them to the dumpster. The trash bags were not even tied, and when trash fell out all over the road he didn't even stop. He just left a trail of garbage. I have heard blood-curdling screaming of vulgarities in the middle of the night from other tenants in my building. I think they corralled all the section 8 people into one area. I used to think section 8 was okay because it helped people, but now I realize that people just use it as a crutch to not work and get drunk at 10am. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to raise kids here. I hear more profanity through the walls than I ever would on HBO or cinemax. Though the office has been helpful in other areas, and courteous in general, they tell me there is nothing they can do about the tenants because it is a long legal process to get someone out of a unit. So basically there is no hope. It has come to the point where I find myself avoiding going home or finding reasons to leave just so I don't have be in my apartment. Its a shame because on the inside the apartment is very nice. Don't live here! Unless of course you like the convenience of using the yard as a trash can. In that case you'd fit right in.
