Although "recently renovated," this place is pretty dumpy. Gaps between doors and frames and missing screens and storm windows allow noise, bugs, and drafts in. Horrible smell in kitchen from under sink area. Disposal stops up constantly. Cheap square floor tiles in kitchen and bath instead of one piece shift, come unglued at the edges, and collect dirt in between. No medicine cabinet in bath - has been replaced with just a big mirror, and the bath is so tiny there's no storage space. Bathtub "reglazed" rather than replaced, and the reglazing is so fragile that managament sent a nasty note to NEVER use bath mats of any kind. So if you slip and break you neck, sue. Reglazing cracks where sealer runs between tub and wall. Air conditioner is ancient, filthy, and makes lots of noise, but doesn't actually cool anything. No ventilation in entire building - very stuffy, everyone's cooking smells pollute your apartment, and mold forms on window sills despite the bathroom fan hard-wired to the light, so you can't just turn on the light - every trip to the bathroom is done with either a noisy fan or in the dark. New carpet covers creaking and uneven floorboards. Management means well and is friendly, but has bizarre rules such as not accepting packages unless you sign a sheet AND alert them to EVERY package you expect to receive. Downtown Boston rates with the added bonus of an hour long commute.
