Satan is afraid of this place.

I just discovered this website today (12-9-04), and laughed uproariously in recognition of all the things that have been driving me crazy since I moved here. Everyone else's review is 100% accurate. If you are an evildoer in life, there is where you will go when you die.
I never would have believed apartments like this could have existed outside of a third world country. My place was filthy when I moved in, and I eventually realized why: the grime is so ancient, it has established itself as Lord of Fineberg Apartments, and will not disappear without taking the rotting structure of the building with it. I tried to cover some of it up with carpeting, but that facade was quickly dismantled...
The supply of electricity in these buildings is completely inadequate for anyone trying to power anything other than a rock with peanut butter on it. Therefore, attempting to run the microwave or the toaster along with anything else, such as say, a 10-Watt light bulb, resulted in a complete blackout that would necessitate a trip to the dungeon-like basement to undo. After having this happen to me several times a day for a couple of weeks, I made Fineberg Realty get me a new electrical box. Like all other repairmen that frequent these apartments, the guys that put it in had obviously never heard of the term "cleaning up", and left this place in a state that shamed the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Hence the getting rid of the carpeting.
Of course, the laughable excuse for a hardwood floor that remains is no match for the nightmare that is the laundry room. While the floor appears to be made of petrified feces, the sewage that must be the source of the smell in the laundry room is still quite fresh enough to inspire vomiting. I have no doubt that, due to living here, my lungs are in a condition that would have been typical in 18th century coal miners.
If there is any consolation to be given to these wretched planetary infestations they call apartments, it is this: nothing is Boston is clean. Therefore, inhabiting dunghills seems to be the norm in this city, making the Fineberg apartments seem less like excrement by default.
Boston is a fungus that consumes the happiness of all who dwell within it. I have lived in this apartment for three years, only because it is very close to my school, the Berklee College of Music. I could have moved farther out, and commuted, but trying to find parking in this city is about as easy as trying to stop myself from crying each time I come home to this filthy, overpriced chamber of misery.

Dear Renter, I understand your frustration, but no one is going to clean your apartment for you. That is something you will have to do yourself. If you can find an apartment in this city for the same money where someone else will clean it for you, then I recommend you grab that deal while it lasts. |

Well, this is a non-sensical reply. Landlord are required by law to provide apartments that meet Boston's health code -- and that means insuring they're in clean, habitable condition. Any responsible landlord will have in place a process that sees to it units are repaired, cleaned -- and if necessary painted -- between tenancies.

I agreee. Those apartments on Boylston Street are deplorable. I visited there once and was appalled at how the stairs were sticky, the smell of stale beer and trash all over the place. Where the hell is the City Inspectors and why arent they fining or shutting these places down? I would not be surprised if Fineberg management was making bribes and kickbacks to the City of Boston.

Hey SatisfiedCustomer29 stop spewing misinformation. Most reputable property management companies do CLEAN apts and even paint them before you move into. It's too bad you're a chump and keep renting places that don't. Stop feeling sorry for yourself already.
