Really Cute Place

I will have lived in my studio for 3 years this upcoming August. Unfortunately I will not be able to stay another year since I will be leaving Boston.

Pros:
- Size: My "studio" could be considered to be a 1-bedroom apartment. I have 4 rooms: Bathroom, kitchen, main room, and a smaller room which I have turned into a kitchen/dining area.
- Price: My rent is super cheap. They don't make significant price increases from year to year. Since I have moved in my rent has only gone up $50/month in the past 2.5 years.
- Location: Fenway Park is literally a 30 second walk from my building. It's cool to hear the Red Sox crowd roar through your windows 2 seconds before you see a homerun on tv. Good if you enjoy Red Sox fans. Bad if you don't.
- People: From what I have experienced, people tend to keep to themselves. Residents typically are Berklee College of Music students and they are super chill but some do practice more than others.
- Management: Fineberg Management is not bad. They have always been really really respectful. The maintenance guys are really friendly and helpful as well. If I place a work order it is taken care of within 24-48 hours. Everyone from Fineberg Management is professional, respectful, and surprisingly flexible about payments.
- Safety: I have NEVER felt unsafe living in this area. Yes, the Fens (across the street) is a shady spot and is notorious for harvesting meetups between guys who like guys but as long as you're not a guy or aware of your surroundings when walking home you will be fine. I am a single lady and I walk home by myself late at night after work and have never had a problem.
- Surrounding stores: Shaws is right down the street (10 min walk). Also, Dominos (open late- until 3 AM on the weekends) is perfect for after-bar food. Gas station is 30 seconds away. A new CVS is a one minute walk tops. McDonalds and Burger king are right down the street as well. The movies, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, 15 min walk.
- Public Transportation: 10 minutes from Kenmore & Hynes Convention Center T-stops.
- Landscaping: There are always gardeners who are trimming the bushes and making sure everything looks cute.
- Sunlight: I have an apartment with bay windows that face the Fens so it's a great view. I see the trees, the top of the Pru, and the stars on a clear night. The sun wakes me up in the morning and it's super bright, so I never oversleep.

Cons:
- Token Unwelcome Visitors: Yes. I have had a few token roaches. They are always dead when I find them. I call maintenace and they have the exterminator in my apartment the following business day. Every building in Boston has roaches, so really- no big deal. It comes with living in the city. Just keep a clean apartment and chances are they will go away.
- Trash Area: I feel like I need a gun and a bulletproof vest when putting out the trash. DO NOT GO OUT THERE LATE AT NIGHT. It is dark, poorly lit, and sometimes a random homeless guy will pop out of nowhere asking me for money.
- Laundry: Sometimes the machines are broken but Fineberg recently replaced them with new machines which work really well.
- Elevators: Yes, they are old. Lucky for me I live on the 2nd floor.
- No Puppies/dogs.
