A Nightmare

Living in a YIA-YIA (AF Doyle building) 172 Marlborough has been a horror show for my husband and I. I can't imagine a more unresponsive management. From the first week the laundry machines have not worked. Despite many calls and letters these machines never have been fixed and we have to take our laundry out. If a problem occurs in the building we experience terrible learned helplessness at this point because we know that nothing will be done to correct the situation. There is a tenant who lives in the building whose apartment is such utter fifth that our apartment smells horribly of human waste and cigarrette smoke. For a long time I have felt too embarrassed to invite friends over to our house. Despite our pleas for help and concerns for our health the management has claimed an inablity to get involved. During the winter there were days on end of no hot water. One extremely hot summer night the radiators started bursting forth heat. Pregnant, I had to leave the apartment out of fear for the unborn child. Despite urgent calls througout the weekend the heat was not turned off for three days. I could go on and on with big and small incidents of gross negligence by this company. Trying to deal with them has been incredibly frustrating. I can't wait to move in one month! We are counting the days!
