Our apartment leaks every time it rains heavily, which has been a lot this past year. Water seeps in through the plaster on the ceiling and wall, and drips down onto our things in the living room. At this point, we have moved everything from one half of that room to the other, rendering the entire room uninhabitable. The poor super keeps coming in, scraping off the soggy old plaster, replastering, and then painting, only to have it soak and stain brown next rain. For 2 months now, in answer to our calls and letters, we have received numerous promises that "they are putting scaffolding up to find the problem outside," but this never happens. Meanwhile, we are down to a kitchen with crummy old curling linoleum, a bedroom with a big fire pit in the middle of the floor (leftover from former squatters'), and a poorly tiled bathroom. They should be paying US rent to stay there.
