Just OK - you get what you pay for

I lived in one of their studio apts in a brownstone building in Back Bay for a year. When I first moved in I asked them to replace the ugly carpeting and the stove that didn't work. They took care of this right away. Whenever I called the office with questions/problems they were generally helpful. Heat was adequate in winter. Had to take a cold shower here and there due to lack of hot water but otherwise fine. No problems with insects or mice. I did have a problem with cigarette smoke from another unit making its way into my apt but never bothered to do anything about it. The building itself was not in the greatest shape. The hallways were beaten up and rarely cleaned or vacuumed. One of the hall lighting fixtures was full of dead bugs. The back alley was filthy and the home of numerous rats, but trash and recycling were taken out regularly and the rats stayed outside. About half the tenants in the building were students who were annoyingly loud, but nothing a call to the cops couldn't resolve. For the most part, I felt safe in my apt, and the building was usually secure, except when students left the front door wide open for their parties. The rent was very reasonable for the location, so I would say I got what I paid for.
