Once you take the bldg tour you will be very very impressed and would definitely want to stay here. But please do look closely before signing the lease.
1) You can get same aprt for much less in other luxry apartments in Boston - look online
2) Donno how the aprts are designed - when the tenants upstairs pee , take bath, their kid cries or when they are "making out' - I can hear everything through the vents !!!!! - I know so much more gossip for me ;)
3) The CIG. MOKE SMELL (refered to as smoke smell from now on) problems in few of the apartments in the middle. The management is doing all they can to fix the problem but inherintely the problem is with the way its been constructed - GAPS in the insulation and vents from which smoke travles to your apartment. Vents have holes in it so Smoke seeps in. Then the way ventilation works - sucks air from the hall and sends to your apartment. If there is cig smoke in the hallway then it comes to your apartment. The apartment where we are staying is having this problem for past one year - its worst for us cause its one of our neighbors who smokes in the apartment and it carries over to our apartment. One of our bedrooms has been used as a storage room for a year now. We are trying to move within the bldg but the rents are still so high and not within our budget. We were hoping we would get some consession on the rent due to our position but that is not happening. They have not increased the rent for our current apartment after a year which is helping us a little.
One thing I would recommend is to work with a realtor or the broker - they can show you real good apartments which are in Bosto/Cambridge area. We are in process of using one of them and hopefully moving out soon.
FYI - the smoking neighbor is moving out - YAHOOO !!! - hopefully I will be able to breath now and no more allergies this year within the aprt :)
