I lived in the property represented by Atlantic Properties but managed and owned by Renaissance Properties during 2000. I lived in a lower floor facing the back alley. While the apartment was spacious and well laid out it was constantly cold and the electric heating bills were outrageous (200 ) during a mild winter. The back alley was full of vagrants looking for soda cans during the middle of the night. Not that I mind living among vagrants, the rattling of the supermarket shopping carts on the cobblestone alley was sleep depriving. The paint and carpeting was in poor condition and the unit was not cleaned as had been promised.
Rent was $1700-1900 per month for one bedrooms - a premium to the neighborhood.
However, my harshest words are for the owner of Renaissance Properties, Roger. You see, Mr. Roger's neighborhood is not exactly friendly. Among the injustices perpetrated in Mr. Roger's neighborhood are the following.
1) Forcing residents to live with their own diswashers in their living rooms for a week including during superbowl weekend.
2) Ignoring a plea directly to the owner of the building to be let into his apt. after an accidental lockout by a resident on a Friday afternoon before 5pm. (during stated business hours). The only responses given was: "sorry, call a locksmith, the caretaker has gone home for the weekend and I'm at a cocktail party in Brookline. Yes you will have to pay the locksmith yourself"
3) Threatening to kick out a resident before the end of a lease term despite no clear cause or legal right.
4) Not paying interest on a security deposit
This building leaves a lot to be desired... unfortunately this review is listed under Atlantic Properties. It should in fact be for Renaissance Properties but there is no listing on this site for them and AP did represent the seller in my rental.
