After putting the deposit on my apartment and with two weeks until my move date I stumbled across this website. I got VERY concerned to say the least so I contacted the leasing officer and voiced my concerns. They assured me that living in 1 Longfellow Place would be fine and that all the complaints were from the Emerson buildings. After 2 months, lots of construction (both down below on the Mezzanine and on the new buildings) I must say they were correct. No noise during the early mornings (before 8:30am) or evenings (after 5pm)
Parking, though expensive (though reasonable by Boston standards, look at how much it costs for monthly spaces at any of the area garages) is very convenient (which I used for a month until my car sold). I have yet to have heard or seen anybody towed from the semi-circle in front of the building for parking over 15-20 minutes.
The concierge s in 1 Longfellow for the most part seem very good, though after 11pm I have had to wake the guy up to let me in on several occasions.
Noise from above and next door is minimal, though on occasion I have heard shoes tapping on the floor as people walk in heels and a TV or two, though its not at all intrusive, just part of apartment living. The only real noise I hear is the trains at the commuter rail depot (which I got used to in a day or two) and the Ding from the elevator.
All my maintenance issues (dishwasher leaked, blinds broke & A/C made a crazy noise) were fixed within 24 hours.
Overall, the experience at 1 Longfellow Place has been positive so far with a few exceptions, the apartment is not really 650 sq ft, that includes a lot of dead space (closets and hallways), the balcony could use some freshining up (dirty and needs some paint) and closet in the "dressing room" area has some exposed pipes and partially unusable for storing everyday items.
