Rented from Copley for almost 30 years

I have been renting from Copley since the late 1970s. Since then, I have moved to other areas, but always come back to them for apartments.
Given the number of apartments that they own, it is hard to give everyone *personal* attention. I haven't had too many bad experiences, but I'm not one to call and complain for the sake of complaining. I also fix whatever I can myself if it's minor. If not, I call maintenance and they respond usually the next day. (Unless it's an emergency that day, it gets put on the next day's roster.)
The office staff is definitely a joke, no question there. Fortunately you only have to deal with them once a year, to renew your lease if you'd like to stay.
Also, in their defense, you can also transfer to other available units. Yes, there is a $500 fee, but you don't have to remain in one place. And it's cheaper than breaking your lease. In the past my "x" and I broke up after many years together. We shared an expensive apartment. When we talked to Al in the rental office, he was able to move me to a cheaper unit, and my ex left town. If you are nice, you will be treated with respect, just like anything in life.
I am moving in a few weeks to a new place with Copley and can not wait. Who knows what it will be like, but life is an adventure, just like dealing with any rental company.
I would NEVER rent from an owner, with Copley you can get some amount of anonymity. And you can also have a cat.
Yes, I would, and HAVE, recommended Copley to friends. I have a lot of friends renting from Copley now. As with any rental property, there will be noise, things to fix, etc. You just have to take a deep breath, get your priorities straight, and realize, "It's only a rental", you don't own it. If it doesn't get fixed by maintenance, oh, well, that's Copley's trouble.
