Take it from someone who has lived in 8 different apartments in Boston both during and after college - don't live in this neighborhood.

My advice is find a cheap place in Allston or Brookline and walk/bike/drive/take the T. If you can pony up the $$$, get into the Back Bay. You can actually find Back Bay studios for nearly the same money as Fenway/Kenmore. These other neighborhoods are primarily controlled by smaller management companies and independent landlords, that I have found to be more responsive to customer needs(that's right - a tenant is a customer).

The problem with Fenway/Kenmore is that it is controlled by large mgmt. companies that force rents up and conditions down to the worst possible degree. If you like wasting your money and not being able to park, please live here. If you like to sleep off your hangovers in peace like me, look elsewhere.
