Mainly good. Couple bad points.

First the bad stuff. The rental office has a no-negotiation policy, so just know that before you sign a lease. My rent increased 4% from last year. Also various apartments are under renovation, leading to loud construction noises midday. I only found this out the day I was sick and stayed in. I have no idea when the renovations will be completed. Also at night, there are occasional loud noises coming from the street. It's never constant, but it will be things like a fire truck roaring by or a garbage truck banging a dumpster. Parking in the area is very expensive or in essence non-existant. There also is no close-by supermarket. They are finishing up a Bread & Circus by MGH, but that is about a 8 minute walk away.

What is good then' When I moved in my apartment was completely renovated (completely new kitchen with high quality appliances and counters, new paint, new carpet). I live in a 2 bedroom/2 bath and my apartment is large for Boston (1400 sq ft). The maintenance staff is responsive. The doormen are friendly and polite. Other tenants are quiet and mostly professionals. Recently they opened up a renovated gym on the top floor ($60/mo) that is very nice (pool, sauna, etc). All 4 subway lines are within 3 minutes walking. Fanuiel Hall and DT Crossing are also very close. The building is best for young, single, professionals.

In response to some comments from others, the elevators are not very slow. They aren't as fast as the ones in the Hancock, either though. My average wait is 1 minute. About 10 times out of the 800 or so times I have taken them, I have had to wait up to 3-4 minutes.

Also, the management sends out lots of memos to notify residents about possible construction, fire alarm tests, etc. They also occsionally host a breakfast table.
