I chose to live in the devonshire because i work in the financial district and i didnt want to have to take the t to and from work everyday. Its great, i love being able to walk to work, and its only a 10 min walk to my building which is right by south station.
i knew i wanted a modern bath and kitchen and you just dont get that in boston unless you are in a high rise. i looked at brownstones in back bay but they were way too old especially for the amount of money.
devonshire is great b/c its right by faneuil hall which has restaurants, shopping, and a night life and if you want to go to back bay, youre only a $5 cab ride or 3 t stops away. also, youre right next to downtown crossing which has all of bostons dept stores right there.
if you want to have that city living feel and work downtown where location is a major priority then devonshire is the way to go. Plus, devonshire is the only apt building downtown!! people may say the building is snobbish, but honestly all the high rises in boston are that way. its common sense, the nicer, more expensive places are going to house people with money.
one more thing, the gym upstairs is so convenient, especially if you dont want to deal with huge gyms where half the time people are there to socialize and meet other people. plus its very reasonsable in terms of monthly fee.
