Devonshire - BIG problems!

I lived here 2 years and thought it was way overpriced. The walls are PAPER thin and you can hear telephones ringing and coughing as if you were there - worst I've ever seen. The closet doors are leftovers from the '70s and very cheesy sheet metal. The elevators are slow as molasses. The top floor health club is very nice - especially the pool, albeit a tad short for lap swimming - I managed to do it anyway. The balconies are dirty and too small for anything but looking over the edge and scaring the heck out of your guests.
The parking is extra - like $450! and it's valet only - ugh. You can park across the street for less but what a pain carrying groceries in the winter!
When I moved out I discovered a leak in the building's (very noisy) air conditioning system had destroyed my very expensive bedroom set. After documenting the damage and alerting the management they agreed to pay me only $1000 towards the replacement cost of $4000, but NEVER came through. Now I am suing them. What a pain! Make sure you have your own insurance.
One big problem with that neighborhood is the sirens and other city noises - it's non-stop.
But the views are unbeatable and that's the only reason I stayed there.
What this building needs is some competition. A lot of the residents work for Fidelity (I called it the Infidelity building) so when they move soon the building may have to get more competitive.
