Horrible!

First off: the apartments are nice. we had a nice 2 bed/2 bath and it was in great condition and it was a nice apartment. Also, the location is great.
Now for the rest:
The building is a horrible combination of a college dorm for spoiled, unfriendly, arrogant rich kids and an apartment building for very rude foreigners who look down upon and are condescending to americans. Simply the rudest, most uncomfortable environment I've ever lived in. Filthy. Cigarette butts on the stairs, trash in the evelators and outside the builing, and if you live in the front-facing apartments you are lucky enough to hear people at 4:00 AM yelling, screaming and revving their car engines and cranking the bass on their car stereos as loud as possible to "impress" people. Our neighbors above us would play their stereo so loud we could not hear our TV and then hide when I politely knocked on their door and asked them to turn it down.
The management' A complete joke. Most of the staff is fairly nice, but the management company that runs the building clearly is there to babysit the students and has no real concept of what running an apartment building means. After a miserable first year there, they wanted to raise our rents. We were quiet, respectful tenants who were clean and always paid our rent on time, but they indicated they would prefer to have us move out (and for them to lose at least 2 months of rent!) rather than not to raise our rent. Unbelieveable! ("Yes, you are great tenants, but we'd prefer to lose money and have you move out rather than not raise your rent." ) Very intelligent buisiness decision! Of course we did move out, and I'm sure some spoiled college brats happily took our place while their rich dad wrote the check out for their deposit.
Finally, we wrote a nice letter indicating that we will not renew our lease, thereby terminating our stay as our lease dictates on June 1st. Well, to management, all they saw was the words "June 1st" and that meant to them we would MOVE OUT on June 1st (not before), and they tried to charge us for an extra days rent! I had to come down to the building and speak with 2 people and finally had to prove that I turned in the keys on May 31st to get them to stop trying to bill me for 1/30th of a month's rent! Simply incredible. Not the brightest staff in the world, that is for sure. You would think they would say "sorry, we misinterpreted your letter, no big deal, of course we won't charge you $80 for 1 day's rent" but of course they had to fight me on this. I was in complete disbelief -- I cannot believe these people run business this way.
The noise level is horrible, and the conceirge is powerless to enforce quiet hours. I did have many fun conversations with the maintenance staff (nice people) who were so sick of the rude spoiled tenants leaving their trash around for them to clean up. I did quite a bit of cleaning of other people's trash myself just so I wouldn't have to look at everyday.
I've lived in BOston many years in many buildings, this was by FAR the worst I have ever been a part of. Simply a complete embarrasment.
Do yourself a favor and live elsewhere -- there are better deals in Boston.
